Five New Fires on Boise National Forest July 10

Lightning Thursday night ignited 5 new fires within the Boise National Forest in a wide area near Idaho City. All are small ranging from a single tree to 1/4 of an acre.  Rain accompanied the lightning which has helped to keep the fires small.  Idaho City Ranger District fire managers coordinating a response to the fires with engines and hand crews.  In addition, smokejumpers from the McCall Smokejumper base are being used. The fires are in remote country and are not threatening any structures.  Two of the small fires are in the area of Hayfork Campground which is along Highway 21 east of Idaho City.  Smoke may be visible from that site, but there is no threat to it and it is open. This will be the last posting of information for these fires unless they begin to grow significantly, which is not anticipated.
