Targhee Regular Crew Mobilizing to Canada

The Targhee Regular Crew (TRC) is preparing for mobilization to Canada to support ongoing firefighting efforts.  The crew members will gather in Idaho Falls on Friday evening to assemble gear and coordinate as a group.  On Saturday, they will drive to Grand Junction, Colorado, where the following morning they will board a jet from the National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) to fly to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Two other hand crews from the Great Basin and two from the Rocky Mountain area will also be on board the jet.  The crews will be briefed in Edmonton and then assigned to fires from there.  They will spend 14 days in Canada before returning home.

The TRC is composed of firefighters from the Idaho Falls District Bureau of Land Management and the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The interagency crew is formed when needed, in response to fire activity and resource needs.  In their routine positions, these firefighters are assigned to engine, fuels, or helitack crews in eastern Idaho.  A crew boss will oversee the personnel, and, in this situation, a special liaison will be assigned to work with the crew while in Canada.
