Fires will start easily, spread rapidly, have a quick increase in intensity and can be very difficult to control.
Stage II Fire Restrictions in effect within Grangeville & Coeur d’Alene Dispatch Restriction Areas
Weather: Today will be mostly sunny, with areas of smoke. High temperatures mid to upper 80s (valleys) and upper 70s to low 80s (mountains). North winds 2-7 mph. Relative humidity 17-27%. Tonight: Partly cloudy with areas of smoke. Low temperature upper 40s. Evening winds variable at 2-5 mph. Wednesday: mostly sunny with temperatures in the lower 90s (valleys) and upper 80s (mountains).

- Parker Ridge Fire 6,147 acres, zero% contained. 7/29 lightning start. NW of Bonners Ferry, Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) (Weeks). Evacuations in effect on the Westside road area and defensive lines are in place. Crews are prepping in the north in anticipation of forecasted winds on Thursday. - Marble Creek Fire 1024 acres, zero % contained. 8/11 start. St. Joe RD Type 3 IMT (Almas) fire was fairly in-active yesterday with isolated group torching. Fire fighters worked on the SW flank building an anchor point, direct line and a fuel break using heavy equipment-excavators, skidders, backhoes, dozers.
- Crater Fire 320 acres, 8/15 start. Fire is 10 miles S/SE of the Marble Creek Fire near the 301 road. Area closures issued for Bureau of Land Management and St. Joe Ranger District lands.
- Grizzly Complex: 920 acres Type 3 IMT (Day) includes the following fires: North Grizzly roughly 600 acres; Lower Flat over 100 acres; and small fires all less than 10 acres: North Suburban, East Suburban, South Suburban, Upper Stoney, Lower Stoney, Downey, and Grizzly Ridge.
- Not Creative Fire 135 acres 60% contained, 8/13 start, Type II Incident Management Team (Fry). IDL, four miles north of Rose Lake on the south side of I-90. Significant progress was made Monday constructing fire line and the entire perimeter has line and hose. Crews will continue to improve fire line in preparation for forecasted winds on Thursday. Crews will continue to work on hot spots within the fire perimeter and removing hazard trees from the line. Residents are encouraged to register with Kootenai County Sheriff. - Clark Fork Complex includes Scotchman Peak & Whitetail fire (east of Lake Pend Oreille). A Type 3 IMT is monitoring the fires, a Type 2 IMT will take over the complex on Thursday.
- Scotchman Peak Fire 2,700 acres including multiple spot fires. Started 8/13, northeast of Clark Fork. The Fire is north of Hwy 200 and NE of Clark Fork in the Sandpoint Ranger District. Fire activity was active yesterday continuing the fire spread to the northeast, burning on the east side of the peak in the Blue Creek drainage. Firefighters are using the confine, contain, point protection strategy. As of 9:00 am this morning there are no evacuations in the area. Closures include:Scotchman’s Peak Trail #65, Goat Mtn. #135, Regal #556, Morris #132, East Fork System #1184, #563, #1030, #212
- Whitetail Fire (450 acres on Sunday) is south of Hwy 200 and south of Clark Fork in the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District. Fire activity has been quiet, creeping with isolated single tree torching, burning on the SE flank of the Peak in the “Deer Creek” area. Closures include: Forest Roads #430, #332, #332A, #203 (Dry Creek), #203A, #203B, #203E, and #1533; Forest Trails #20 (Coeur d'Alene River NRT), 52 (Alden Creek), #448 (Deer Creek), #77, #122. - Tower Fire 7,743 acres in Washington, 1% containment. Area Command has taken charge of all fires in the Colville National Forest (NF) including oversight for the Tower Fire. The Tower fire is being managed by the Colville NF with guidance from Idaho Panhandle NF fire management. Fire growth yesterday occurred mostly to the east and southeast. Crews and aircraft made progress in securing the west side of the fire. Today: reinforce holding lines along the S and W flanks to establish a solid anchor. The fire started in Colville NF and is visible from Priest Lake. Fire Information is 575-756-4406.
- Big Lost Fire 1280 acres, zero % containment, IMT 3 (Svancara) East of Potlatch near Hwy 6, 10 miles south of Emida. Road closure has been lifted. The Laird Park and White Pine Campgrounds (includes the Grizzly Boy Scout Camp) have been evacuated and are closed. Crews have established a dozer line around the fire perimeter, are starting direct attack and are locating and managing spot fires.
- Snow Peak Complex: 126 acres ICT3 Juvan, include the following fires: Ruby Point 78 acres, Basin Creek 36 acres and small fires less than 10 acres: Trail 55, Caribou, Lightning Ridge, Chicadee, Game, Pole Creek, My Ruby, and Salt Pork.
