Fires will start easily, spread rapidly, have a quick increase in intensity and can be very difficult to control.
 Stage II Fire Restrictions in effect within Grangeville & Coeur d’Alene Dispatch Restriction Areas

Weather:  Mostly sunny, patchy smoke in the morning with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. High temperatures low to mid 80s (valleys) and mid to upper 70s (mountains). NW winds 3-7 mph with afternoon gusts to 15 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy with patchy smoke overnight. Low temperature in the upper 40s. Evening winds from the NW at 2-7 mph. Tuesday mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 80s (valleys) and low 80s (mountains). Winds will be from the north at 3-8 mph. Humidity today 18-28%, tonight 60-80%.

Incident Summary: Listing of active fires (attached).
  • Parker Ridge Fire 6,139 acres, zero% contained. 7/29 lightning start. NW of Bonners Ferry, Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) (Weeks). Evacuations in effect on the Westside road area and defensive lines are in place. Fire was fairly tame yesterday.  Road and trail closures are in place for Parker Ridge Trail #221, Fisher Peak Trail #14 and the Long Canyon Trail #16.  Fire Information line for Parker Ridge Fire: 208-267-6773 Email:
  • Marble Creek Fire 1024 acres, zero % contained. 8/11 start. St. Joe RD Type 3 IMT (Almas) active fire yesterday.
  • Crater Fire 320 acres, 8/15 start. Fire is 10 miles S/SE of the Marble Creek Fire near the 301 road. Area closures issued for Bureau of Land Management and St. Joe Ranger District lands. 
  • Grizzly Complex: was named a complex today and includes the following fires from the 8/11 and 12 lightning storms. Type 3 IMT (Day) North Grizzly Fire, North Suburban, East Suburban, South Suburban, Lower Flat, Upper Stoney, Lower Stoney, Downey and Grizzly Ridge Fires.
  • North Grizzly Fire 546 acres; North Suburban 4 acres; East Suburban 0.3 acres; South Suburban 7 acres; Lower Flat 135 acres; Upper Stoney 1.3 acres; Lower Stoney 0.8 acres; Downey, 1.5 acres; Grizzly Ridge 0.3 acres.
  • Not Creative Fire 125 acres 40% contained, 8/13 start, ICT 3 (Verlanic) has been managing the team, and a IMT 2 is reporting to duty today. Crews working to line fire on the steep western flank, holding established fire lines on the north (I-90), east and southern flanks, on the ridge four miles north of Rose Lake. Hot shot crews conducted minor burn-out operations on the west flank. Residents encouraged to register with Kootenai County Sheriff.   • Clark Fork Complex includes Scotchman Peak & Whitetail fire on Monday 8/17 (east of Lake Pend) Oreille. A Type 3 IMT is monitoring the fires, a Type 2 IMT will take over the complex on Wednesday.   
    • Scotchman Peak Fire 2,356 acres including multiple spot fires. Started 8/13, east of Clark Fork, Sandpoint Ranger District, IPNF. Scotchman Fire is north ofHwy 200 and NE of Clarkfork Town, Fire spread is relatively slow.
  • Whitetail Fire (454 acres on Sunday) is south of Hwy 200 and south of Clarkfork. 
  • Closure of trail systems on Saturday, Aug 15, Scotchman’s Peak Trail #65, Goat Mtn. #135, Regal #656, Morris #132, East Fork System #1184, #563, #1030, #212.
  • Tower Fire 5,761 acres in Idaho, 1% containment. Area Command has taken over management of the fire. Crews will continue to build dozer line on the south and west flanks of the fire.  The fire started in Colville National Forest, is visible from Priest Lake and came east of South Baldy Mountain.   • Big Lost Fire 1280 acres, The fire is 0 % contained.  E of Potlatch near Hwy 6, 10 miles south of Emita. IMT 3. Road closure has been lifted.  The Laird Park and White Pine Campgrounds (includes the Grizzly Boy Scout Camp) have been evacuated and will be closed until further notice. Crews are working on the fire and have established a dozer line around the fire perimeter. They are now working inside the dozer lines starting direct attack on the fire. Crews are also locating and managing spot fires.

    • Bonners Ferry Ranger District (RD), Idaho Panhandle National Forest(IPNF) due to Parker Ridge Fire: Parker Creek Trail #14, Long Canyon Trail #16 and Parker Ridge Trail #221 (Sections 7 and 8 of T64N, R1W and sections 12, 13, 14, 15, 2, and 27 of R2W) and the Fisher Peak Trail. Under this closure order, the public is prohibited to go into or be upon this trail.
    • Sandpoint RD, IPNF due to Scotchman Peak Fire: Trails on & around Scotchman Peak .
    • Coeur d’Alene River RD IPNF, due to the Bennett Peak Fire: Forest Road #602 (Little Guard Road) and Forest Trail #81 (Shoshone Ridge).
    • Coeur d’Alene River RD, IPNF due to the Grizzly Mountain Fire: Forest Roads # 260, #959, #993, #994, #1568 and Forest Trails #807 (Indian Creek) and 807A (Indian Creek).
    • Coeur d’Alene District, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) due to the Crater Fire: Crater Lake and Widow Mountain Areas, All BLM lands in T43N, R4 E, Sections 1,3,4,5,8,9,10,11,13, 14,15, 17,21,22,23, 24,25,26,27,28,29,31,32,33,34,and 35.
    • St. Joe RD, IPNF Areas in all or portions of T42N- R4E, T43N-R4E, T43N-R3E, T44N–R3E.
    • Priest Lake Ranger District, Idaho Panhandle National Forest due to the Tower Fire and Upper Priest Fire: Road 1013 at Trail 308 (Upper Priest), Road 310 (Gleason Mtn) at junction with 219 (Lamb Cr), Road 333 (Goose Cr) and 333b (Blonc Cr) Closed at State line; Road 659 (Squaw Valley) at junction with 1075 (Klahowya rd), Road 1096 at junction with Road 1098 (Goose Cr Saddle), Road 305(Kings Road beyond private property),Road 1142 (Butch Creek Rd

STAGE II Fire Restrictions:  The following acts are prohibited until further notice:
  1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire.
  2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a designated smoking site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
  3. Operating motorized vehicles off designated roads and trails in accordance with existing travel management plans for non-commercial purposes including ATVs, UTVs, and pickups. 
  4. The following acts are prohibited from 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.  A patrol is required for one hour following cessation of all work as described in a, b, and c below: 
  1. Operating a chainsaw or other equipment powered by an internal combustion engine for felling, bucking, skidding, processing, road building, woodcutting or any other off-road activity during industrial operations.
  2. Blasting, welding, or other activities that generate flame or flammable material.
  3. Using an explosive  
    *Private landowners within city boundaries should consult their local Fire Department for current restrictions in their community.
