The Point Well Fire, located 10 miles north east
of Minidoka, was reported today at approximately 12:00 p.m. East End Rural Fire
Department, North Side Patten, 6 BLM engines, 5 Airtanker, 1 helicopter, 1 air
attack, 2 dozers, and 1 water tender are currently battling the blaze.
Pushed by high winds and warm temperatures, t he fire is currently
estimated to be 6,000 acres, burning in grass and brush. Due to these challenging conditions, neither contain or control times have been established. The
cause of the fire is under investigation.
“It may be fall but it’s still fire season. The
vegetation is dry and our temperatures are still warm. People need to remain cautious;
one small spark can still cause a fire.”
