Mile Marker 52 Highway 55 Fire

Boise, ID – The fire reported earlier today as an assist to Ada County is now known the MM52 HWY55 Fire.  At 1632 hours Ada County reported a wildfire to the Boise Interagency Dispatch Center. The fire was ignited near Mile Marker 52 on Idaho State Highway 55 near the community of Avimor. During initial attack the fire was being operated under unified command with the Eagle Fire Department, as the only land involved was private.
At approximately 1930 hours the fire burned onto land owned by the Idaho Department of Lands under BLM fire protection. The fire is human caused; however, the specific cause is still under investigation.
As of 8:00PM on July 26th, the fire is currently 10% contained, with 50% active flames at the head, and no structures threatened. The fire was reported burning northeast away from the homes located in Avimor.
The current resources from the BLM, Eagle Fire, and Boise Fire are listed below with an additional hotshot crew in route from Vale, Oregon.
