Cherrr Fire - Update August 9th, 2016

Boise, ID – At 6:38PM on August 7th,  the Cherry Fire was reported near Cherry Gulch, north of Emmett approximately 8 miles southwest of Ola, ID. The fire was believed to have ignited from a thunderstorm that passed through the area early that day.


Aircraft dropped several loads of fire retardant, slowing the fire's progress while ground recourses worked their way into the fire Sunday evening.  Ground resources included: 5 engines, 3 dozers, and one hand crew, a total of 55 personnel, to suppress the fire



The fire was reported to be contained to 228 acres at 10PM on August 8th.  Crews will continue to mop-up and secure the fire line today.  The fire is expected to be controlled this evening by  8PM.
