Vale BLM Fighting Rim Reservoir Fire
Vale, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Vale District is currently fighting a new fire in the southern part of the District.
The fire, called the Rim Reservoir Fire, is burning approximately 13 miles southeast of Rome, OR. The fire is estimated to be 1,000 acres in size and is burning along the Owyhee River Canyon, on the south side of the river.
A helicopter crew has been on site and has completed initial mapping and reconnaissance. Other resources are in route, including 3 engines, a Type 1 and 2 Hand Crew, a water tender, a TATRA engine and a fuel tender.
High winds are expected this afternoon and could potentially cause significant growth on the fire. No estimate on containment or on the cause is known at this time.
