Twin Falls District BLM Fire Update

The Magic Valley experienced a lighting bust late yesterday evening that ignited five wildfires. This area is prone to thunderstorms, lightning, and wildfire this time of year. Three wildfires are burning approximately 20 miles south of Hammett, and two wildfires are burning approximately 15 miles south of Glenns Ferry.

Winter Camp North Fire
·         Located near Winter Camp Homestead, approximately 20 miles south of Hammett
·         60 acres
·         Lightning-ignited on June 4
·         Fire was called contained at 9 p.m. and controlled at 10 p.m., on June 4th
·         Fire burned in grass and brush
·         No structures threatened

Sailor Fire
·         Located south of Winter Camp North Fire, approximately 22 miles south of Hammett, near the Sailor Creek Day Station
·         363 acres
·         Lightning-ignited on June 4
·         The fire is contained at this time,  and has a control time set for 6 p.m. this evening (June 5)
·         Fire resources include two BLM Fire Engines
·         Fire burned in grass and brush
·         No structures threatened

Antelope Butte Fire
·         Located near Antelope Butte, approximately seven miles south of the Sailor Creek Day Station
·         176 acres
·         Lightning-ignited on June 4
·         The fire is contained at this time, with a control time of 5 p.m. this evening (June 5)
·         Fire resources include one Incident Commander and one BLM Fire Engine 
·         Fire burned in grass and brush
·         No structures threatened

Kinyon Springs Fire
·         Located approximately 16 miles south of the Glenns Ferry
·         1,466 acres
·         Lightning-ignited on June 4
·         The fire is contained at this time, with a control time of 2 p.m. this afternoon (June 5)
·         Fire resources include two overhead and three BLM Fire Engines
·         Fire burned in grass and brush
·         No structures threatened

Twin Butte Fire
·         Located approximately 14 miles south of the Glenns Ferry
·         40 acres
·         Lightning-ignited on June 4
·         The fire is contained at this time, with a control time of 6 p.m. this evening (June 5)
·         Fire resources include one BLM Fire Engine 
·         Fire burned in grass and brush
·         No structures threatened
