Menan Butte Fire Update

Start Date: 07/01/2017

Location and Jurisdiction:  Off of Twin Butte Road across from the Menan Butte Trailhead, BLM

Cause: Human  evidence suggests fireworks, the investigation is ongoing

Fire Size: 238 acres, after official GPS mapping, fire did not grow during the day.

Percent Contained:  100% contained at 6 p.mEstimated control is July 5, 2017.

Fire Behavior: Fire is not active at this time, some heat remains in the interior of the fire perimeter.

Structures Threatened:  No immediate threat to structures.

Fuels and Terrain:  Burned in grass and sage brush. 

Fire Crews/Resources: 4 engines and 1 dozer on scene at this time.

Evacuations:  None in effect at this time.

Closures:  None.

Summary: Seven engines and two dozers continued securing the fire perimeter and mopping up the fire today. Storms are expected to pass over this evening, bringing erratic winds. Resources will stay in the area. 4 engines and 1 dozer will continue mopping up the fire tomorrow with an approximate control July 5. BLM will continue to monitor the fire once it is controlled
