Wildhorse Fire
Start Date: 07/30/2017, reported 3:30 p.m.
Location and
Jurisdiction: 6 miles South of Big Southern Butte about 35 miles west of
Blackfoot, ID, BLM
Cause: Lightning
Fire Size: 25,712 acres, acreage down due to GPS mapping
from the ground
Percent
Contained: 90%, full containment expected tonight with control estimated for 8/2 10 p.m.
Fire Behavior: Minimal; heat is
interior of the fire perimeter
Structures Threatened: No immediate threat to
structures.
Fuels and Terrain: Grass and sage brush.

Crews/Resources: 12
engines, 4 dozers, 2 water tender
Evacuations: None in effect at this time.
Closures: None.
Summary: Firefighters will continue mopping up the
fire and monitoring for heat.
Mine Canyon

Cause: Lightning
Fire Size: 10 acres

at 1 p.m., control estimated for 8/2 10 a.m.
Fire Behavior: Minimal fire
behavior, difficult terrain is slowing firefighters
Structures Threatened: No immediate threat to
structures.
Fuels and Terrain: Burning in grass and
sage brush.

Summary: Fire is not active,
terrain is making containment progress slow.
