Jurisdiction: 5 miles south of Atomic City, ID, BLM
Cause: Lightning
Fire Size: 24,500 acres
Percent
Contained: 15%, containment
estimated for 8/6
Structures Threatened: No immediate threat to
structures.
Fuels and Terrain: Tall grass and brush intermixed
between the lava flows
Fire
Crews/Resources: 14 engines, 3 dozers, 3
water tender, 2 handcrews, and 2 helicopters (129 personnel)
Evacuations: None in effect at this time.
Closures: None.
Summary: The Lava Flow Fire continues to burn actively,
driven by wind. Firefighters have started to get a handle on the fire and will
be using direct tactics today. Handcrews will go direct by digging line and
working with helicopters. Helicopters will drop water on the fire to slow the
fire’s progress and secure the fire perimeter.
