Start Date: Reported 8/2/2017

Location and Jurisdiction: 5 miles south of Atomic City, ID, BLM

Cause: Lightning

Fire Size: 2,000 acres

Percent Contained:  No estimated containment

Structures Threatened:  No immediate threat to structures.

Fuels and Terrain:  Tall grass intermixed between the lava flows

Fire Crews/Resources: 10 engines, 3 dozers, 2 water tender

Evacuations:  None in effect at this time.

Closures:  None.

Summary:  The Lava Flow Fire burned actively through the night and five single engine air tankers worked the fire late into the evening dropping retardant. The lava flows are making access difficult for firefighters. Air resources will mainly be used today to work on containing the fire. This is due to difficult access for firefighters and the lack of areas dozers can be utilized effectively.
