Yellow Bull Fire Update

(Kamiah) – Fire crews are mopping up hotspots within the 200-acre Yellow Bull Fire, located 10 miles southwest of Kamiah between Red Rock Road and Highway 162.  The fire is considered controlled and will be in patrol status by tomorrow.

A Type 4 Incident Commander is now in charge of the firefighting efforts, additional fire resources requested earlier in the day were not needed. The fire was battled by the Idaho Department of Lands, the U.S. Forest Service, and more than 30 volunteers with tractors, implements and a dozer.  Three engines remain on the scene.

Firefighters worked together over night to save three homes from the blaze last night, however, one outbuilding did burn.

The lightning caused fire was spotted about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
