Moon Dance Fire Update



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 3, 2017

(OROFINO) – An early morning house fire in the Sunnyside Bench area ignited grass, brush and timber near the structure resulting in the eight acre Moon Dance fire.

An additional 30-40 structures are threatened and the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Level 2 Evacuation Notice (be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice) for the following areas:  Old Peck Grade, Blackberry Lane, Bear Paw Lane, Moondance Lane, River Pointe Lane, Canyon Vista Lane and Pecan.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office has also closed the Old Peck Grade for public safety due to wildfire.

All available initial attack resources from the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association (CPTPA), Sunnyside Fire Department, and multiple volunteers are actively suppressing the fire.  A Hotshot crew will arrive this morning to support resources on scene.  Firefighters will also be supported by air resources as suppression of the fire continues.
