BLM and Forest Service respond to multiple wildfires

The Idaho Falls District-BLM
and Caribou-Targhee National Forest responded to four wildfires through the
night. Lightning tracked over southeast Idaho Sunday evening, igniting multiple
wildfires. Fire crews made great progress overnight and hope to have remaining
active fires controlled in the next couple of days. Lightning is expected this
afternoon.
Oxford Fire
· Located approximately 5 miles southeast of Swan Lake,
ID
· Estimated at 230 acres (on private and BLM land)
· Lightning
· Fire resources –3 engines and 1 dozer
· Estimated containment– 7/9/18 noon
Lanark Fire
· Located approximately 10 miles west of Montpelier, ID
· .5 acres (on private and BLM land)
· Lightning
· Fire resources have left the fire
· Contained on 7/8/18 at 10:40 p.m.
Crystal Creek Fire
· Located approximately 10 miles southwest of Pocatello,
ID in Arbon Valley
· 1.7 acres (BLM land)
· Lightning
· Fire resources – 1 engine
· Contained– 7/9/18 at 6:30 a.m.
Nelson Canyon Fire
· Located approximately 4 miles east of Grace, ID
· .1 acres (Forest Service land)
· Lightning
· Fire resources – 1 engine
· Estimated containment– 7/9/18 at 10 a.m.
Two Mile Fire Update
Started
on 7/7/18
· Located near Malad and I-15
· 146 acres (Forest Service land)
· Human-under investigation
· Fire resources – 3 engines, 1 water tender, 1 dozer, 1
handcrew, 2 helicopters
· Containment– 50%
There is line around the fire
and crews will continue securing the fire perimeter and mopping up today.
