Location and
Jurisdiction: 1 mile southeast
of Malad, east of Interstate-15 near mile marker 13. Burning on the
Caribou-Targhee National Forest
Cause: Human – under investigation
Fire Size: 100 acres and growing
Percent
Contained: 0%, no estimated

Fire Behavior: Fire is picking up as the sun hits
it. Expecting active fire behavior as the day heats up.
Structures Threatened: No immediate threat to
structures.
Fuels and Terrain: Burning in grass, brush and
juniper. Burning in steep ground.
Fire
Crews/Resources: 3
engines, 1 water tender and 1 dozer on scene at this time. Additional resources
have been ordered to arrive today.
Evacuations: None in effect at this time.
Closures: None.
Summary: The Two Mile Fire is
on the east side of Interstate-15 near Malad. Please be aware visibility is
reduced on the interstate due to smoke until the inversion layer lifts. The
fire continues to grow and is moving to the north. Oneida County engines worked
the fire through the night. Two
20-person handcrews, two helicopters and an air attack have been ordered to
arrive today.
