Start Date: 07/07/2018
Location and Jurisdiction: 1 mile southeast of Malad, east of Interstate-15 near mile marker 13. Burning on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest
Cause: Human – under investigation
Fire Size: 60 acres and growing
Percent Contained: 0%, no estimated containment date
Fire Behavior: Fire is running uphill.
Structures Threatened: No immediate threat to structures.
Fuels and Terrain: Burning in grass, brush and juniper. Burning in steep ground.
Fire Crews/Resources: 3 engines, 1 water tender and 1 dozer on scene at this time. Oneida County resources assisting. Additional resources have been ordered.
Evacuations: None in effect.
Closures: None.
Summary: The Two Mile Fire started at 8 p.m. today one mile southeast of Malad, east of Interstate-15 near mile marker 13. The fire is in steep country and growing. Three engines, a dozer and a water tender will stay on the fire overnight. Two 20-person handcrews, two helicopters and an air attack have been ordered for tomorrow. Expect smoke across the interstate, making visibility an issue until the inversion lifts in the afternoon.
