Start Date: 08/13/2018 early morning
Location and Jurisdiction: Approximately 1 mile north of Chesterfield Reservoir on Fort Hall Reservation, BLM and private.
Cause: Lightning
Fire Size: 2,380 acres (aerial mapping)
Percent Contained: 60%, containment estimated for 8/16/18
Fire Behavior: Fire is smoldering. Maple and aspen stringers interior of the fire perimeter continue to burn.
Structures Threatened: No structures threatened
Fuels and Terrain: Burning in grass and brush in steep terrain.
Fire Crews/Resources: 5 engines, 2 brush trucks, 1 20-person handcrew, 9 smokejumpers, 3 dozers and 1 helicopter.
Evacuations: No evacuations.
Closures: No closures.
Summary: Firefighters will continue securing the fire perimeter today with the goal of full containment tomorrow, August 16. Smoke is coming from maple and aspen stringers within the fire perimeter and containment lines.
