Diamond Flat Fire  8/2/2018
Location: Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Soda Springs Ranger District
Current size:  3 acres
Fire behavior:  Smoldering and creeping
Forecasted Weather:  30% chance of wetting rain LAL 3

Yesterday’s observed fire behavior was smoldering and creeping in the 1000 hour fuels and duff.  No visible smoke was detected from the end of the Diamond Flat road (1/4 mile away).  Minimal smoke was observed while walking around the fire.  Grasses and forbs are green and the fire is not spreading in these fuel types.
Masticator work is continuing along the private property in Stump Creek and is anticipated to be completed by Friday 8/3/2018 end of shift.  Work on the FS trail 116 has begun and crews are making good progress on this fuel break which will slow fire spread to the timber units to the northwest.  Anticipated completion date for this management action point will be 8/11/2018.
Anticipated fire behavior for today is the same that has been observed with smoldering and creeping and minimal growth.
