The 8 Mile fire has grown to 1,000 acres. The fire is making active runs through grass, brush and timber. The fire jumped the Bear River and is threatening structures. Currently there are 75 private residences in danger, along with several outbuildings. Evacuations are in place. The 8 Mile Road is closed along with nearby subdivisions roads. Resources on scene include 7 engines, 2 dozers, a 20 person handcrew, helicopter and 9 air tankers.
Start Date: 09/22/2018 at approximately 2 p.m.
Location and Jurisdiction: 5 miles southeast of Soda Springs, ID. Burning on private land and threatening BLM and private forested lands.

Fire Behavior: Active fire behavior with the fire running to the north - northeast

Fire Crews/Resources: 7 engines, 2 dozers, 20-person handcrew. Air support include 9 air tankers and a helicopter. Additional resources supporting the fire are from Caribou, Bear Lake and Franklin Counties.
Evacuations: Evacuations currently taking place north of the fire.
