Start Date: 09/12/2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Location and Jurisdiction: Started 8 miles northwest of Dubois, ID in Clark County. Burning on private, BLM, IDL and USFS.

Cause: Under investigation

Fire Size: estimated 13,072 acres

Percent Contained: 68%, containment estimated for 9/19/18
  
Fire Behavior: Creeping and smoldering.

Structures Threatened:  No structures threatened.

Fuels and Terrain:  Burning in grass, brush and timber.

Fire Crews/Resources: 14 engines, 4 handcrews, 4 dozers, 3 helicopters and 3 water tenders (188 personnel).

Evacuations:  No evacuations.

Closures:  Pleasant Valley Road and Dry Creek Road are closed. The Caribou-Targhee NF has enacted an Emergency Closure Order. The closure order can be viewed at http://www.idahofireinfo.com/2018/09/indian-butte-fire6forest-closure-order.html.

Summary: Firefighters completed line around the Indian Butte Fire’s perimeter yesterday evening, Sept. 16. The containment lines withstood 20 mph winds this afternoon, holding at 13,072 acres. This allowed firefighters to secure more of the fire perimeter and acheive 68% containment. Firefighters will continue working to secure the perimeter and hope to achieve full containment by Wednesday night, Sept. 19.
