Horse Butte Fire

Horse Butte Fire is now 100% contained. Firefighters continue to mop up interior hot spots and rehab dozer line.
Start Date: July 6, 2019, approx. 5:30 p.m.

Location and Jurisdiction: 17 miles northwest of Aberdeen on BLM. #BLMIFDFire

Cause: Lightning.

Fire Size: mapped at 9,446 acres

Percent Contained: 100% contained. Control estimated for 7/9/19. 

Fire Behavior: Smoldering.

Fuels and Terrain: Grass and brush. Terrain is flat with rolling hills.

Fire Crews/Resources: 4 engines, 2 dozers (BLM & USFS) (total of 22 firefighters).

Structures Threatened: No structures threatened.

Evacuations: No evacuations.

Closures: No closures.


Lake Channel Fire

Containment lines continued to hold through the day as Firefighters mopped up and worked to rehab dozer lines. The fire is expected to be controlled 7/9/19 in the afternoon. Significant resource demobilization to begin 7/9/19 in the morning.

Location and Jurisdiction: 7 miles north of Raft River on BLM. #BLMIFDFire

Cause: Lightning

Fire Size: mapped at 8,272 acres

Percent Contained: 100% contained, 7/7/19 at 9 p.m. Control estimated 7/9/19 in the afternoon.

Fire Behavior: Smoldering.

Fuels and Terrain: Grass and brush. Terrain is flat with rolling hills.

Fire Crews/Resources: 6 engines, Snake River Hotshots, one 20-person handcrew, 2 dozers, 1 water tender.

Structures Threatened: No structures threatened.

Evacuations: No evacuations.

Closures: No closures.
