Idaho Morning Fire Update

#RadarHillFire
Firefighters worked
through the night on the Horse Butte and Lake Channel Fires. 100%
containment was achieved on the Radar Hill Fire last night at 10:30 p.m. Thunderstorms
are expected again today over east Idaho.
Horse Butte Fire
The Horse Butte Fire was active through the night and continues
to make runs, growing to approximately 8,000 acres. More resources are arriving
on scene this morning and air resources have been ordered. Please remember not
to fly drones in the area. If you fly, we can’t!
Start Date: July 6, 2019, approx. 5:30 p.m.
Location and
Jurisdiction: 17 miles northwest of Aberdeen on BLM. #BLMIFDFire
Cause: Lightning.
Fire Size: approx. 8,000 acres
and growing.
Percent Contained: 0%
contained. No estimated containment.
Fire Behavior: Running.
Fuels and Terrain: Grass and
brush. Terrain is flat with rolling hills.
Fire Crews/Resources: 6 engines,
1 dozer (BLM & USFS), 2 water tenders and Swan Valley Helitack. 5
additional engines, 1 dozer, 1 water tender and air resources ordered.
Structures Threatened: No
structures threatened.
Evacuations: No evacuations.
Closures: No closures.
Lake Channel Fire
Engines and the dozer are close to securing the south edge of
the fire this morning. Then firefighters will focus on securing the northeast
corner. Firefighters will face challenges containing the fire’s northern edge
due to lava fields making access difficult.
Start Date: July 6, 2019, approx. 3 p.m.
Location and
Jurisdiction: 7 miles north of Raft River on BLM. #BLMIFDFire
Cause: Lightning
Fire Size: approx. 5,000 acres
Percent Contained: 40%
contained, full containment estimated for 7/8/19. Control estimated for 7/9/2019
at 6 p.m.
Fire Behavior: Running
Fuels and Terrain: Grass and
brush. Terrain is flat with rolling hills.
Fire Crews/Resources: 5 engines,
Snake River Hotshots, 1 Inkom Fire Dept. water tender, 1 helicopter, 1 dozer
and 1 heavy air tanker. Ordering a 20-person
handcrew and 1 engine.
Structures Threatened: No
structures threatened.
Evacuations: No evacuations.
Closures: No closures.
Radar Hill Fire
Two engines will finish mopping up hot spots in the interior of
the fire perimeter. Control is estimated by this evening.
Start Date: July 6, 2019, approx. 3:30 p.m.
Location and
Jurisdiction: 10 miles northeast of Dubois near Radar Hill on IDL. #BLMIFDFire

Cause: Under investigation.
Fire Size: approx. 75 acres
Percent Contained: 100%
contained at 7/6/19 at 10:30 p.m. Control estimated for 7/7/2019 at 6 p.m.
Fire Behavior: Hot spots in the
interior of the fire perimeter.
Fuels and Terrain: Grass and
brush. Terrain is flat with rolling hills.
Fire Crews/Resources: 2 engines
