Isolated thunder storms and high winds are predicted over the
fire area today. Fire fighters are working hard to create containment lines and
mop up hot spots. A mapping mission is scheduled for this morning to gather
more accurate acreage estimates for both fires. Additional resources will
arrive throughout the day.
Ridgeline Fire
● Location: approximately seven miles
northeast of Albion
● Size: estimated 1000 acres
● Containment: estimated 7/14 at 10 p.m.
● Control: estimated 7/16 at 10 p.m.
● Resources: Cassia Rural Fire Department,
Albion Rural Fire Department, one Sawtooth National Forest engine, four Twin
Falls District BLM Fire Management (TFD) engines, one TFD dozer, one TFD water
tender, Snake River Hotshot Crew, one Helitack, TFD camp crew
● Fuel type: grass, brush, juniper
●
Fire behavior: moderate fire behavior with
some running and spotting
● Structures threatened: not immediately
threatened but structures are in the area
● Cause: lightning
Smith Fire
● Location: approximately five miles south
of Lake Walcott and north of I-86
● Size: estimated 1,200 acres
● Containment: estimated 7/14 at 12 p.m.
● Control: estimated 7/14 at 6 p.m.
● Resources: Cassia Rural Fire Department,
three Twin Falls District BLM Fire Management (TFD) engines, one TFD dozer, one
TFD water tender

running
● Structures threatened: none
● Cause: lightning
