Twin Falls District (TFD) BLM Fire Management and our partners are responding to multiple starts throughout the District. Fires listed below are confirmed fires, with resources responding and/or on scene. New fires will be posted to social media accounts, then included on later fact sheets. Additional ground and air resources have been ordered.

A Red Flag warning has been issued over the fire areas today for scattered thunderstorms, lightning and high winds.

Hot Springs Fire

●       Location: approximately 25 miles north of Murphy Hot Springs, near the Bruneau Canyon
●       Size: estimated 7,000 acres
●       Containment: estimated for 7/23 at 8 p.m.
●       Control: estimated for 7/25 at 8 p.m.
●       Resources: Three Creek Rangeland Fire Protection Association (RFPA), two overhead, seven TFD
         engines, one dozer, one water tender, TFD Camp Crew, multiple aircraft
●       Fuel type: brush and grass
●       Fire behavior: smoldering and creeping
●       Structures threatened: structures not immediately threatened
●       Cause: lightning suspected

Notch Butte Fire

●       Location: approximately half mile east of Notch Butte, south of Shoshone
●       Size: estimated 500 acres
●       Containment: estimated for 7/23 at 4 p.m.
●       Control: estimated for 7/24 at 12 p.m.
●       Resources: Jerome Rural Fire Department (RFD), one TFD dozer, one over head
●       Fuel type: grass
       Fire behavior: smoldering and creeping with short runs
●       Structures threatened: none
●       Cause: lightning suspected


Fossil Fire

●       Location: approximately three miles west of Hagerman, near the Hagerman Fossil Beds National
          Monument
●       Size: estimated 40 acres
●       Containment: estimated for 7/23 at 6 p.m.
●       Control: estimated for 7/24 at 6 p.m.
●       Resources: Saylor Creek RFPA, King Hill RFD, Gooding RFD, one TFD engine, one overhead, multiple
          aircraft
●       Fuel type: grass and brush
       Fire behavior: smoldering and creeping with short runs
●       Structures threatened: none
●       Cause: lightning suspected

Lava Fire
●       Location: approximately three miles northeast of Shoshone
●       Size: estimated 400 acres
●       Containment: unknown
●       Control: unknown
●       Resources: four TFD engines, one water tender, one dozer, four overhead, and multiple aircraft
●       Fuel type: grass and brush
●       Fire behavior: active with short runs and spotting
●       Structures threatened: structures in the area, but not immediately threatened
●       Cause: lightning suspected
