The Desert Ride Fire is approximately 7,500 acres, it is being mapped
now. Firefighters have stopped the fire’s forward progress, achieving 50%
containment. Dozer line is around 90% of the fire perimeter and
engines are working to extinguish any heat along the line.
Winds are expected to
pick up this afternoon, which may test containment lines. Fire managers still
expect full containment by Tuesday evening.

Jurisdiction: 11 miles west of
Rexburg, Highway 33 near mile marker 68. BLM
Cause: Human caused, under
investigation
Fire Size: 7,500 acres approximately
Fire Behavior: Smoldering
Fuels and Terrain: Flat terrain burning in brush and
grass and other fine flashy fuels
