Treasureton Fire

The Treasureton Fire has grown to 500 acres and is 50% contained. Firefighters have been able to slow the fires progress and will continue to build containment lines around the Treasureton Fire through the night, conducting burn out operations as needed.
Start Date: August 15, 2019 at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Location and Jurisdiction: 13 miles north of Preston, near Treasureton. Located between Treasureton Road and Johnson Road. Started on private forested, threatening BLM.
Cause: Under investigation
Fire Size: 500 acres
Percent Contained: 50% contained, containment estimated for 8/16/19 at 10 p.m.
Fire Behavior: Running and torching trees.
Fuels and Terrain: Rugged terrain covered in grass, brush and juniper.
Fire Crews/Resources: 5 engines, 2 dozers, 1 water tender, 4 single engine air tankers, 2 heavy air tankers and a helicopter. Franklin and Caribou County resources assisting. 2 handcrews ordered.
Structures Threatened: Structures are not immediately threatened, but are in the area.
Evacuations: No evacuations. If evacuations are necessary those affected will be notified, they will be conducted by the local county sheriffs office.
