Start Date: 07/19/2020 at approximately 3:00 P.M.
Location and Jurisdiction: 1 Mile South of Pocatello (BLM and Private)
Cause: Under investigation, started on private ground
Fire Size: 1546 Acres (increase due to more accurate mapping)
Percent Contained: 50% contained, estimated full containment 7/21/2020 at 7 P.M.
Fire Behavior: Smoldering with isolated torching.
Fuels and Terrain: Grass, brush and juniper.
Fire Crews/Resources: 5 engines (BLM & FS), 1 helicopter, 2 BLM dozers, and 5 handcrews. Pocatello FD, Chubbuck FD, Inkom, North Bannock and Pocatello Valley FD engines.
Structures Threatened: No structures currently threatened.
Evacuations: No evacuations.
Closures: Road closures in effect along N. Stockman Road and Barton Road to Chinese Peak.
Summary: Firefighters worked to secure and extinguish heat along the fire perimeter today. The fire did not grow and held within containment lines. Full containment has been pushed back to tomorrow, 7/21/2020, evening to ensure there is no remaining heat within brush and juniper along the north edge of the fire.
