Location and
Jurisdiction: 15 miles West of
St. Anthony, access off the Egin-Hamer road near the Sand Dunes. (BLM)
Cause: Under investigation
Fire Size: 9.3 Acres
Percent
Contained: 0%, full containment
estimated for 7/17/20 at 6 p.m.
Fire Behavior: Fire activity has subsided to creeping and
smoldering. Winds are in excess of 30
MPH.
Fuels and Terrain: Burning in grass and brush.
Fire
Crews/Resources: 8
engines & 5 water tenders (BLM, USFS, Hamer VFD, Madison County & South
Fremont Fire Departments), 1 helicopter, 1 retardant plane and a BLM dozer
worked the fire today.
Structures Threatened: No structures threatened.
Evacuations: No evacuations.
Closures: No closures.
St. Anthony Sand Dunes are still open to recreation.
Summary: The Generic Fire started at
approximately 11:55 p.m. today 15 miles West St. Anthony and adjacent
to the St. Anthony Sand Dunes. Access is
off the Egin-Hamer road. BLM, Forest Service, Madison County, South
Fremont and the Hamer Fire Departments worked together to fight the fire. The
fire now has water, retardant or dozer line all around it and is expected to be
contained today at 6 P.M. The fire
ran into the St. Anthony Sand Dunes which helped stop the forward spread.
