Location and
Jurisdiction: 1 Mile South of
Pocatello (BLM and Private)
Cause: Under investigation, Started on private ground
Fire Size: 1451 Acres
Percent
Contained: 30% contained, estimated
full containment 7/20/2020 at 7 P.M.
Fire Behavior: Active, uphill runs, wind driven, torching
Fuels and Terrain: Burning in grass, brush and
juniper.
Fire
Crews/Resources: 5
engines (BLM & FS), multiple air resource including a helicopter and
air-tankers, 2 BLM dozers, air-attack, One 20 person crew, One crew currently
on scene, 3 more crews ordered.
Pocatello FD, Chubbuck
FD, Inkom, North Bannock and Pocatello Valley FD on scene.
Structures Threatened: Structures, radio towers and powerlines
threatened.
Evacuations: Some homeowners taking steps for voluntary
evacuations.
Closures: Road closures in effect.
Summary: Update: The
Chinese Peak Fire started approximately at 3 P.M. today. Fire
has high spread potential and has made it to the main ridgeline. Dozers will continue along fire perimeter
with support from air resources. Multiple
air-tankers have been working the fire. No
structures lost. Firefighters will
continue to fight fire throughout the night.
