Dempsey Fire

Location: approximately 7 miles southwest
of Davis Mountain, on the west side of the Dempsey Meadow drainage
●
Size: estimated at 6 acres
●
Containment: estimated for 7/19 at 6 p.m.
● Control: estimated for 7/20 at 6 p.m.
● Resources: Sawtooth National Forest
engine, three Boise BLM engines, four Twin Falls BLM engines, one dozer, one
water tender, one helicopter
●
Fuel type: brush and grass
● Fire behavior: smoldering and creeping
●
Structures threatened: no
● Cause: under investigation
The Dempsey Fire was reported yesterday, July 18th, around 7 p.m.
The fire is burning in heavy brush and grass. Resources are creating containment
lines with chain saws, hand tools, and bladder bags (5-Gallon Backpack Suppression Water Bag). Terrain,
hot temperatures, gusty winds, and dry conditions are making progress slow.
